Facts About Racial Profiling in Marin

On September 11, 2023, MVFREE Police Team members Celimene Pastor and Tammy Edmonson joined community activists Cesar Lagleva and Paul Austin to share the facts about racial disparities in Marin County policing (based on data reported by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office [MCSO] under the Racial and Identity Profiling Act [RIPA]) and what can be done about them. The forum was moderated by Noah Griffin, former Vice-Mayor of Tiburon. If you missed the highly informative and disturbing program, watch it on YouTube and share it with friends. The slides that accompanied the presentation can be found here.

Pacific Sun report, Nikki Silverstein, attended the program and followed up with MVFREE and with Marin County Sheriff Scardina who continues to present insupportable technical and theretical objections to the RIPA data rather than acnowledge or address the deep racial disparities. Check out Silverstein’s article in the Pacific Sun.
