MVSD Hires Tenisha Tate-Austin to Facilitate DEI Efforts

Mill Valley School District hires Tenisha Tate-Austin founder of Critical Friends DEI Consulting, to facilitate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts with district staff and PTA DEI committees.

Tenisha Tate-Austin is a former principal at Miller Creek, assistant principal at Bayside MLK and Tamalpais High. She is currently consulting with MVSD as well as Kent, Reed and Miller Creek school districts.

Tenisha guides the work of DEI initiatives with both District staff and DEI committees. Groups meet separately and together as a District Equity working group to align their goals.  

Currently in progress:
• Mission Statement prioritizing commitment to racial consciousness
• Events based on cultural calendar
• Framework for District and DEI committees partnership
• Implementation of DEI parent and student survey for MVSD
