MVFREE and MVCAN To Host Candidate Forum

The MVFREE City Government Team and the leadership of MVCAN are joining forces to host a community forum that will include the three newly appointed members of the MV City Council whose terms will begin on June 21, 2022: Jim Wickham, Stephen Burke, and Max Perrey. Details about the forum to follow at a later date.

On March 24, Council voted to cancel the election for these seats under a legal provision that allows for appointment, in lieu of an election, of candidates who are running unopposed. The vote was unanimous with Council member McEntee abstaining. We nevertheless look forward to the opportunity to hear from each of these entering representatives about their vision for the future of our community.

In addition to addressing the new membership of the City Council starting June 2022, we are working on a long-term plan to identify and develop a larger pool of candidates that are committed to DEI goals for elections in Mill Valley in future years. This is exciting work with potential impact for the long run and we would love for more people to join the effort.
